Sustainability
What sustainability initiatives does the venue implement?
We are committed to sustainability, resilience and resource awareness and lead by example.
In September 2022, we acquired the hotel building and began conversion and modernisation work.
Our architect Andrea Schmidt is also a sustainability coordinator in accordance with BNB. She and a colleague are currently drawing up an environmental balance sheet for the Unsereins so that further conversion measures can be planned and implemented accordingly.
It is exciting to think about how the building can be free of fossil fuels in the long term. What new solutions research is offering and how the market is developing. Even if it may take some time before the building shines in its full beauty, we emphasise ecology and short delivery routes in every project.
We love upcycling. This means that we use old materials and equipment and reuse them elsewhere. In this way, we not only reduce waste, but also create an attractive symbiosis of old and modern architecture.
Supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics, we have also taken part in a research project on the subject of food waste. We primarily buy seasonal products from regional suppliers. In this way, we ensure short delivery routes, less packaging waste and strengthen the destination at the same time.
For a holistic approach to the circular economy, we use recyclable materials as far as possible, which can be reused in a biological or technical cycle after use.
We also buy a lot of things second-hand, thereby conserving resources that others would otherwise have to throw away and saving our wallets. We give away or sell things that we no longer need to colleagues and people who can make good use of them.

Unsereins is situated in an idyllic secluded location in the middle of the natural paradise of the Franconian Forest, in the spa town of Bad Steben in Bavaria - just 500 metres from the upper spa gardens.
Arrival by public transport:
Bad Steben railway station is only 5 minutes away. From there you can take the Hofer Landbus, which will take you directly to our front door - or we can pick you up.
