The Museum der Arbeit is located on the former site of the New-York Hamburger Gummi-Waaren Compagnie in Hamburg-Barmbek. The factory was built in 1871 and constantly expanded, and is today one of the oldest surviving factory ensembles in Hamburg. The exhibition of the Museum of Labor opened in 1997 in the building of the "New Factory" after careful restoration of the old building fabric from 1908. In 2006, the restoration of another part of the historic factory ensemble, the "Old Factory" from 1871, was completed. Since then, the museum has three large exhibition and event rooms. Outside of museum use for special exhibitions, they are available for events.
The entire museum is handicapped accessible and has freight elevators. All rooms are alarm secured. There are no catering requirements for rentals. The museum is centrally located. It can also be reached by the historic saloon car of the Hamburg elevated railroad via Barmbek station or directly via the museum's own pier on the Osterbek Canal by Alster steamer. Parking spaces are available on the museum grounds and can be rented by arrangement. We are happy to offer museum tours or demonstrations - individually tailored to the wishes of our visitors.
Rental period is freely negotiable
