The T.R.U.D.E.: Restaurant - Bar - Café
Even the initials of the restaurant tell an exciting story. T.R.U.D.E. means "Deep down under the Elbe" and is the title of the cutting wheel of the gigantic Elbe tunnel borer that dug the fourth Elbe tunnel tube until the year 2000. As an imposing industrial monument steeped in history, the T.R.U.D.E. now stands in the inner courtyard of the location and documents that it is much more than just a restaurant - namely part of Hamburg's history. In the former production rooms of the New-York Hamburger Gummi-Waaren Compagnie, a modern restaurant with a unique atmosphere has been created. The rustic industrial charm of the historic brick walls and high ceilings harmonises perfectly with the open room layout and the warm lighting concept. T.R.U.D.E. is modern, exudes history and is quite cosy at the same time. Sustainable quality and regional products are the top priorities here. When it comes to meat dishes, great importance is attached to species-appropriate animal husbandry. As a pioneer of vegetarian and vegan cuisine, the extensive menu also offers many meat- and fish-free dishes. On Saturdays and Sundays there is a popular breakfast buffet between 10 am and 2 pm. In the cosy bar area you can enjoy the popular in-house Barmbek beer in natural, light and dark from the barrel. The indoor and outdoor areas can accommodate up to 600 people, making the location ideal for all kinds of events.
