Forsthaus Rote Schleuse

The Rote Schleuse forester's lodge looks back on a long history. In its present form, the forester's lodge was built around 1820 on the foundations of the Vasmer sluice to provide accommodation for the local forest warden.

At this time, wood was of particular importance, as it was needed to feed the fire under the salt boiling pans to bring wealth to the Hanseatic city of Lüneburg.

From 1840, a catering service was offered for the first time in the form of a coffee bar.
