The forest gorge is located not far from Bad Kohlgrub, secluded in the middle of the forest, by a natural pool that is fed by two streams. This idyllic, secluded location by the water, which is also suitable for swimming, lends the place a special mystique. The surrounding nature captivates with its wild, unspoilt rainforest charm. Moss, ferns and horsetails line the wild forest landscape, which repeatedly opens up into clearings and larger meadows as far as the Staffelsee.
The ensemble of buildings consists of the main building, which houses a restaurant with two rooms for up to 70 people. On the top floor, newly renovated guest rooms offer space for up to 20 people. In the garden there is a pub garden with space for around 300 people and a special forest stage for concerts, lectures and other events.
The garden is also home to the old summer house, probably the oldest building in the forest gorge. Its cellar was once used as an ice store. On the first floor, it offers space for up to 20 people in a nostalgic atmosphere and is particularly suitable for small conferences or offsite events.
Another outbuilding also offers newly renovated guest rooms.
Below the natural pool, along the stream and next to a large waterfall, there is an additional outdoor event area with a large forest stage, which can also accommodate up to 300 people.
If there is not enough accommodation on site, it is also possible to camp. There is also plenty of accommodation in the village (15 minutes' walk away).
The forest gorge is easy to reach by train or car.
There are great excursion options in the surrounding area, such as hikes through the Murnau moor, an easy climb up to the Hörnle with a great view of the Zugspitze and far-reaching views as far as Lake Starnberg, swimming opportunities in many lakes and rivers with swimming fun in the Ammergau Alps Nature Park.
