VILLA MERIGGIO: A HILL OF ART AND CULTURE
Villa Meriggio is a historic residence with timeless charm, built in 1917 in a time full of contradictions. This magnificent historic residence has been renamed 'Villa Meriggio'. This name refers to the hottest hours of the day, when the sun is high in the sky. For Greeks and Latins, they were considered particularly favourable for a theophany, or a 'divine manifestation'.
Location and spaces
The Villa's horizon opens onto the valley of the River Mincio, the "valley of the gods" according to a possible etymology of the name Valeggio; and the protagonist of the landscape is the Visconti Bridge, which stretches from west to east in the vicinity of Borghetto sul Mincio.
The typical elements of Art Nouveau architecture are evident, such as the stucco decorations depicting lion heads, or the rams on the capitals of the colonnade. Symbols also recur in the historical fountains that could be traced back to the zodiac signs of the first owners, as was the fashion of the time. Successive restorations over time have maintained the original splendour and spirit, reflecting a timeless elegance that gives guests a unique and unforgettable experience of beauty and culture.
Let yourself be enchanted by the beauty of Art Nouveau combined with modern interior design, each room with its details is striking and evocative. The vast outdoor park and terraced spaces offer guests the opportunity to use the Villa also in the summertime, enjoy special sunsets and organise delicious buffets, moments of entertainment or scenic shows.
Today the Villa is a place that hosts events of excellence with the intention of giving a different meaning to the time of those seeking wonder and inspiration.
