The industrial chimneys of the former Streiff AG cotton spinning mills still rise gracefully on the banks of the Aabach. The high-quality yarn from Switzerland was once in great demand: in 1969, the Streiff AG spinning mill produced around 2.4 million kilograms of yarn. Towards the end of the 20th century, emerging countries began to produce the same quality more cheaply. Most spinning mills in Switzerland had to shut down, including Streiff AG. What remained were large-scale production halls, charming cost houses and classicist administrative buildings, which today can be put to a new use.
