Place of longing: Castle & Estate Ulrichshusen
The renaissance castle Ulrichshusen and the estate 2 km away are a dream come true. It began in divided Germany. The Iron Curtain blocked the way to Mecklenburg. Only the longing of Helmuth von Maltzahn could overcome the inner-German border. Then the wall fell in 1989 and the reconstruction of the former family seat began. Today it is exactly this "stone-made" energy, love and creative power that every guest in Ulrichshusen feels from the very first moment. The open ensemble of fieldstone barn, English park, lake, duck ponds and the castle enthroned above it all combine to create something very precious: perfect harmony. The entire complex is used as a hotel with a good 110 double rooms and wellness area, gastronomy and venue for weddings, conferences and concerts.
Every room at Schloss & Gut Ulrichshusen is generously proportioned and decorated with classic Toile de Jouy fabrics. All iron work - from the ceiling chandelier to the window handle - comes from our own, masterly production. Wherever you look, you rub your eyes: Is this real or painted? Not an easy question, because the castle and estate became a total work of art through trompe-l'œil paintings. A lot of light streams into the rooms through the high windows, the view outside glides over the lake or into the dreamy park. The romantic Ulrichshusen is perfect for weddings. But the hall is not the only possible dance floor for a successful banquet, which in Ulrichshusen can hold up to 650 people.
For years, the cuisine of the restaurant "Am Burggraben" has stood for new creations without drifting into chichi. Sophisticated country cuisine and menus inspired by the season and region are part of the philosophy. Asparagus until St. John's Day, in the months without an "r" - i.e. May to August - there are traditionally crayfish, matie around Midsummer and in mid-November the Martin geese. High quality ingredients have priority. The game comes from the estate's own hunting and the fish from the surrounding waters.
In summer the magic of Ulrichshusen is sonorously underlined. Since 1994 Ulrichshusen has been the main venue of the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Every weekend numerous music lovers from near and far make a pilgrimage to this little paradise. The star violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter put Ulrichshusen on a par with the world-famous English festival venue of Glyndebourne. The list of virtuosos is long: Yehudi Menuhin, Mstislav Rostropovich, Julia Fischer or Daniel Hope are just a few famous names who have performed in the Concert Barn. And every year there are more.
Now one can hardly believe that one can also work well in Ulrichshusen. But that is exactly what is happening. Far away from office stress and street noise, the Ulrichshusen estate promotes concentration to the highest degree. The conference rooms are bright as day and equipped with modern technology. The rooms can be darkened for optimal presentation. On the adjoining terrace, conference guests enjoy their breaks in the greenery. With a modern manor kitchen in the "Old Water Mill" up to 500 guests can be served at the same time. Various activities such as dragon boat races or a manor park rally are part of the active portfolio in Ulrichshusen. Ulrichshusen leaves nothing to be desired.
