Schloss Bodelschwingh

High in the north of Dortmund between hills and forests, wide meadows and fields, lies Bodelschwingh Castle - a true gem and one of the most beautiful moated castles in Westphalia! The core of the complex is the magnificent manor house, which is located in the middle of the water surface overgrown with water lilies and is only connected to the old outer castle by the stone arched bridge.

It still rests on the historical oak piles in the subsoil and consists of several interlocking building parts and towers with different spires, i.e. different spires. The oldest parts with roots to the year 1300 are located on the northern side. The present Renaissance building with characteristic turrets was built in the middle of the 16th century. It survived the Second World War and also mining by the nearby Westhausen colliery without damage. The baroque landscape garden was created at the end of the 19th century. The outer castle is connected to Bodelschwingh Castle by a large stone bridge, which replaced the old wooden bridge in the 16th century. In the outer castle the old farm buildings are grouped around the large inner courtyard, which today serve as apartments and offices.

On the ground floor of the castle there are several beautiful rooms with historical interiors, which can be used for selected events and professional film and photo shoots. A prestigious large hall with a historic fireplace, imposing crystal chandelier and grand piano, a dining room with ancestral gallery, a sunroom and reading room, a central hall lined with checkerboard tiles, as well as a historic library and other small adjoining rooms. Some of the antique furniture from different periods can be moved or cleared out, while some is immovable.

The medieval vaulted rooms in the basement can also be partially used as a location.
