In 1956, the Gloria Palast was opened by one of the most important figures in German film, producer Ilse Kubaschewski, as Munich's most modern film theatre and became a popular venue for glamorous film premieres. This cinema has rightly borne the name Gloria Palast ever since, as this special flair and the exclusive ambience of a film premiere can still be felt at every event today. In 2012, the Gloria Palast was reopened as Munich's first premium cinema and has stood for cinema enjoyment at the highest level ever since.
