The Alte Gleishalle in the trendy Oberhafen is the heart of the former goods handling area in the quarter. Its special charm stems from the unique topography with lower-lying track beds, the two former platforms and 350 sqm of contiguous space at the head of the old tracks.
This is where creative industries meet neighbourhood development and experimentation. The Gleishalle is both an event location and a test balloon in which everyone can participate. It is essentially about gaining knowledge on the general social question: How do we want to develop and shape our urban culture together?
The Gleishalle is a stage, a testing ground and a playground - in a figurative sense and in fact: concerts and lectures can take place here on a stage, as well as short, medium or long-term innovative, experimental, sustainable projects. Artistic work processes can be tried out here or sporty, playful projects organised. The Gleishalle is a place open and accessible to all and a platform for multifaceted networking, because the multifaceted and extraordinary projects selected by a curatorial committee are all characterised by innovation, creativity and high social value.
The Gleishalle is a jointly supported project of 5+1 Oberhafen e.V.. In cooperation with Kreativgesellschaft Hamburg and HafenCity GmbH.
