The Eiermannbau in Apolda - an extraordinary place of modernity, a project of IBA Thuringia, with plenty of space to work, exhibit, produce and a roof terrace to relax together: Welcome to the Open Factory at Eiermannbau Apolda!

In the years 1938/39 the architect Egon Eiermann extended a former textile factory for Total AG Feuerlöschgerätewerke. Until 1994, production was carried out on site, then came the long vacancy. In May 2018, the International Building Exhibition (IBA) Thuringia moved in as the first user. Together with the project partners Stadt Apolda and LEG Thuringia, which owns the monument, it is developing the Eiermann building into an open factory.

Whether cooking and eating, meeting and dancing, concert and theatre, seeing and being seen - the high, column-free hall with parquet flooring is located on the 3rd floor. A well-equipped catering kitchen is available for the event service.

Outdoor area with potential
The Open Factory stands on a largely undeveloped plot of land of more than 2 hectares. The site offers space for all kinds of open space uses, for garden and educational projects, recreation and sports.

Sufficient parking spaces
Parking spaces are located directly on the property. Further public parking spaces are available in
large numbers in the immediate vicinity.

Easy accessApolda


is located in the middle of the Thuringian impulse region. The train connects Apolda with Weimar and Erfurt every 30 minutes. Jena is easily reached by bus in 25 minutes. Via the modern ICE junction in Erfurt you can easily reach Leipzig (1 hour), Berlin (2.5 hours) and Munich (3 hours).

The B87 runs northwest of the Eiermannbau, only one kilometer away. You can reach Weimar via the main road in 20 minutes or take the A4 motorway. Jena can be reached via the B7 in 20 minutes.
