The Zeughaus is located in one of the most representative places of Berlin, close to the Museum Island, the government district and directly at the river Spree.
The foundation stone for the impressive baroque building was laid on 28 May 1695 by Elector Friedrich III of Brandenburg -1701 King Friedrich I of Prussia. He was followed by the builders Martin Grünberg and from 1698 to 1699 Andreas Schlüter.
