With the "Neue Altstadt" urban development project, Frankfurt has brought a piece of the lifestyle back to the metropolis on the Main. In the course of this project, the squares and streets of Alter Markt, Hühnermarkt, Hinter dem Lämmchen and Neugasse with their historic properties and courtyards, including Hof Rebstock am Markt and Goldenen Lämmchen, were largely restored. There were 35 new buildings, including 15 reconstructions of historic old town houses, described as "creative replicas". The most valuable reconstruction and showpiece of the area is considered to be the Haus zur Goldenen Waage.
At the beginning of September 2018, Christian Ress became the first operator ever to open his new Balthasar Ress Weinbar & Vinothek, now the second after the one in Wiesbaden, in the lively new district on the Markt in the New Old Town.
Not least because of its bold and elegant interior design, the FAZ praises the Weinbar & Vinothek as a "cosmopolitan spot" in the Altstadt.
The wine bar is also available as an event location for closed events based on the agreement of a minimum turnover or also for moderated wine tastings for a flat fee (also parallel to the normal bar operation). For events where a "bar atmosphere" for up to 35 guests is desired, the Balthasar Ress Weinbar & Vinothek offers a solution in a prime downtown location, easy accessibility (especially by public transport) and nearby parking.
