AndersweltTheater Stolberg - CULTURE-full DISHES

Whoever enters the AndersweltTheater in the European city of Stolberg really enters another world. A fairytale café, furnished with much love and imagination, welcomes guests young and old and turns them into participants in the stories about Cinderella, Snow White and Frau Holle. There is also a table for the Brothers Grimm.

The artist couple Christiane and Mario Jantosch, have been spoiling visitors since 2011, who are looking for and have come to love the small but fine, but above all, up-close and individual theater experience.

The theatre, which seats 40 people, is located on the first floor of the completely reconstructed half-timbered house, which is only a few steps away from the market square and has a lot of variety to offer, especially on weekends. Whether cabaret, a spooky evening, a Wilhelm Busch evening, erotic stories of world literature or a review of culture and culinary arts in the GDR under the title "Im Kessel: Buntes" (In the cauldron: colourful), the Jantoschs arrange most evenings in their theatre themselves.

But that is by no means all, because in keeping with the stage programme, creativity is also writ large in the kitchen. The menus enrich the culinary enjoyment of the art and sometimes become supplementary "illustrations" of the corresponding programme. Pictures are conjured up on the plates, which are often initially sought-after photo motifs before being eaten. "As theatre people, we are lateral entrants in the gastronomic profession and have to convince with our own strengths and that includes preparing and arranging the menus with a lot of creativity and attention to detail." And that goes down well with the visitors.

The direct contact between the guests and the artists, who cook, serve and serve drinks themselves and like to chat with their guests, is the secret recipe of the AndersweltTheater.

The programme is constantly being expanded with new productions, because the regular guests should always be presented with something different.

For many artists, the AndersweltTheater has also become a popular venue for guest performances. Cabaret is well received and offered by well-known guest performances and a new concert series with singers and songwriters from Sweden, the USA and Ireland should bring a further colour into the repertoire.

The AndersweltTheater can be used for private parties, company celebrations, Christmas parties or also for individual performances. Then programs and supply can be co-ordinated with the Jantoschs according to the cause.
