The listed Old Harbour Office is living history! In its original function, the brick Wilhelminian-style ensemble was the office for power and harbour construction. It was built in 1885/86 on Grasbrook in the emerging free harbour and is the oldest building in HafenCity. Not only were charts written in the harbour office, but for a long time it was also the contact point for seafarers who brought their experiences from all over the world with them. This biography and the sensitive handling of the old building form the guideline for the interior design. The Augsburg design team DREIMETA led by Armin Fischer is responsible for this and designed the hotel in the style of a cosy captain's home: the dignified figure of the old harbour master is the inspiration and accompanies guests through the hotel in an inspiring way. As many historical details as possible were preserved and integrated in a creative interpretation. The design quality thrives on the sensitive use of exciting materials, nostalgic collector's items and new objects.
In addition to the highly varied floor plans, all the retreats are connected by two colour schemes. "One approach goes in the direction of beige-blue-brown, the other line revolves around the nuances of pistachio and terracotta," says Britta Kleweken, describing the concept: "We play with these colours in tiles, materials and fabrics and combine matching furniture in a lively mix of styles." Sought, found, collected: Vintage objects meet flea market finds, new harmonises with old. The loose furniture varies in each room and individually enriches the identical basic furnishings of the 49 neighbourhoods.
